Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is on the coast of East Sussex and is a great place to see a range of special wildlife. We have 200,000 visitors a year, but for those of you who can't be here today there is this web cam. It is sited on the top of our information centre at Lime Kiln Cottage and it is controlled by our visitors, so you will be watching what they are watching - you will be a Virtual Visitor. You can watch the tide and the fishing boats coming in and going out, and some of our wetland birds and some of our facilities and landmarks. When the weather is stormy you may even see waves crashing over the harbour entrance. To find out when high water is go to the BBC site. The large pools near the cottage are part of a sea defence project managed by the Environment Agency and in August the work will start to complete the landscaping of this area. For a guide to what you are seeing, visit our webcam photo gallery.
