Hi from a very cold and snowy Perth. We had a very heavy fall of snow overnight on 25/26th giving about 10ins and since then the temp hasnt risen above zero so we are all feeling very cold, I suppose it is better than rain but that will come and then it will be slush everywhere.I would like to wish everyone on the forum, all at LOTL and all at Denbury a very Happy New Year and Good Health and Happiness for 2010.
This site has helped me to get through 2009 which was the worst year of my life so thanks to you all Val Perth

Hello all and sorry to hear that some of you are feeling a little down. No wonder with the awful weather we have been having. We had non stop rain for 24 hours over Monday night and all day Tuesday and I must agree it can make you feel very down. I am still recovering from the bug I had over Christmas but it does seem to be taking a long time. Very little energy and not much of an appetite at all.

One good thihg though all my startlings have returned to my garden and obviously enjoying the suet pellets and worms I am putting out. I have just watched the sparrows have a bath and once again I am amazed that they want to bath when the weather is now turning ever colder. I also have a couple of squirrels who are very regular visitors and they must have buried hundreds of nuts over the past week. They really are such industrial little creatures at the moment.

I watched a deer at Loch of the Lowes last night searching for food. The snow looks very deep there but i am so glad they put the food out for the birds poor little devils must be finding it hard at the moment.

I wish all of you a Very Happy, Healthy New Year.

To Mr and Mrs Farmer I also wish you a Happy New Year and hope you will have time to celebrate yourselves. Margaret - Poole

Betty Canada how nice is that to be making a bed Quilt for your son. They used to do that years ago in this country but i am afraid its a dying Art so sad too. I used to knit suits for my daughter, when she was small i can see her now in them that memory will stay with me for ever i could knit pleats her nursery teachers used to say where did you buy that outfit for her when i told them id made them they were gobsmacked as i was only about 20 at the time. I hope you enjoy yourself doing it Betty, i wished i was there to help you a corner each and a good old chin wag lol. Karen Stoke

Here are a few jokes from my local paper's childrens page will post answers later.

What do you call an old snowman?

How does a snowman lose weight?

What did one snowman say to the other snowman?

Hope you get them right. Elaine

Happy New Year to everyone. Mr & Mrs Farmer, hope 2010 is a good one for you.

I agree about this winter weather, so depressing. It has been dark, freezing cold and raining every day from morning til night, no brightness at all. The only good thing is that I can put the Christmas lights on and cheer myself up a bit.

The waterfall cam looks really good in the first light of dawn.

Janette, my cracker jokes this year were the pits! We stopped reading them in the end. Who has got all the good jokes? Sue, Middlesex

Hi Karen Stoke I too have started the Winter Depression. As soon as the night get shorter it starts. Roll on spring.

I am going to start a Queen size bed quilt for my number 3 son as he is moving in with his girlfriend so will keep me busy and hopefully keep the depression at bay.

We shall have a quiet new year, also have dinner and watch a good DVD. Again wish everyone all the best. BETTY CANADA

Elaine/Sue, no no no no way will that be my new year resolution!!! I see that there are still some deer feeding on SWT2, at least they have got something to eat, not like some of us!!! Stay warm ladies, worry about the energy bills when you get the Red Letter! RobinXX

Robin: Sue's stomach bug has nothing to do with her cooking as she NEVER cooks at Christmas! Middle daughter does Christmas lunch and eldest daughter does Boxing day! As for my cooking well the turkey is always well done it comes out of the tin in pieces as I cook it far too long. Have been trying to kill hubby off for years, still trying lol. As for trying to kill you I don't think so we would have all the ladies on the forum after us we all love you so much and many of us would really like to meet you. Maybe that could be your new year resolution to meet some of the ladies from the forum!!!!! Take care all Elaine and Sue

Porjus cam looked beautiful today in the snow and with a very dim sun shining. It was snowing in St Louis as well.

Hello all just a quick post to let you know i am still knocking about. Hope you all had a good Christmas, thank god its all over i HATE it i really do its like a fortnight of Sundays to me. My daughter and her chap arrived safe on Sunday, and returned home Monday, as there trip had to be abandoned the previous Tuesday. I have sinus prob at the moment and the depression i hate winter. But i have me Denbury Farm to look at don't know what id do without it to be honest. I will soon be putting my seedlings in to propagators. Elaine we have had no Snow as yet here in Stoke i thought it was trying last night but nothing, it was almost sleet so fingers crossed Jordan and i get some to build our snow Family. I was awake till 5 this morning i could not sleep as i took some medication that does not allow me to sleep i go on a high if you like mentally. So i need to go get some sleep as i only grabbed a few hours in and out of sleep. Keep warm and safe everyone, speak soon. Karen Stoke

The house feels very empty now. No 2 son went home yesterday to prepare for his New Year's Eve party. We usually have no 1 son and wife staying over into the new year but unfortunately my daughter-in-law had to work today and tomorrow and they also had to get back to the 2 cats and 2 rabbits. They brought the 11 gerbils with them! So, it's an unusually quiet New Year's Eve for us. We'll have a special meal, watch a DVD, and then watch earthcam and celebrate the New Year all over the world at various times. Should be fun!

Hope everyone who is off colour feels well soon. I still have a bit of a cough and didn't feel too good on Christmas day but improved on Boxing day and thankfully for the family buffet on Sunday. Isn't Christmas tiring?

Mr Farmer, you'll be pleased to know that the weather forecasters have been coming in for a lot of critisism for their long range forecasts. First they promised a "barbeque summer" and then a "mild" winter. HA! How are we to believe anything they say?

Take care out there.

Janette - Cheshire
