An Osprey just took the big fish away, was it an intruder, or the Dad?

Jill i assure you i am not glued to the football i detest it i really do how dare they mess with our soaps!. Well i am amazed at our Mabel i really am i looked in a few times yesterday, very briefly at different intervals throughout the day, as i was busy in the garden, but every time i looked in Mabel, was feeding the chicks, and getting some nourishment herself. I looked in today and she was feeding them again. I could weep with joy!! every time i see her. Those chicks maybe her last two she will rear, and its just more than one could ask for her seeing her job through, she is truly remarkable i for one will never ever forget her ever.

I read this in my evening sentinel i thought i would share it with you its another bitter sweet tale......Fawn in centre after accident....
STAFF at an animal sanctuary are caring for a fawn that was rescued from the womb of its Mother after it was killed by a car.
The baby roe deer is making a recovery at the RSPCA Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, near Nantwich, after the accident.
An RSPCA inspector was called out to reports of a pregnant deer being hit in Bolton, Lancashire.
The collision killed the mother, ruptured her abdomen and two fawns came out.
Miraculously, one was still alive.
The orphaned fawn is now bieng hand reared by veterinary nurse Sarah Goodwin at stapley following the crash on May 23.
She said: "We really wern`t sure how she`d get on, having had none of the benefits of her Mother`s milk, but things are going well and she is getting stronger every day.
"We`re not out of the woods yet. Hand rearing a wild animal is a difficult task and anything could go wrong, but as more time goes by you naturally become more hopeful.".....

I expect everyone is glued to their TV's - England are 1-0 up at half time! lol - The car park here at work is practically empty - I'm still here though working away and popping in and out of the cams, and also looking in on the tennis scores! Yes Sue those owlets are funny looking cotton wool balls on wobbly legs!
Its another glorious day here - very hot, I wonder how long this warm spell will last!...Jill

I had planned to go to LOTL on Sunday but I just couldnt, I was so afraid of what I would see, yes I know I am a coward, but I just could not accept that something dreadful had happened to Mabel. I am so happy to see that she has made a wonderful recovery albeit that Peter tells us that she is not fully recovered. I can only hope that she will be here to see her chicks fly off to Africa. I think that we also have to thank Mac for being a WONDERFUL father he has really stepped up to the mark and even more so since Mabel's sad Illness. I think that we all also should say a big thank you to Peter, Fiona and all at LOTL for their dedication and endless hours Of work to keep a check on the nest and keeping us all up to date. I am also very grateful to Mr Farmer for all his work in allowing us to see so many aspects of nature from owls badgers swallows geese ducks and many more, thank you Mr Farmer. Val Perth

I am so pleased about Mabel picking up, when she started being ill I couldnt watch the cam nor read the blogs, I went into my neighbours house really sobbing she was upset for me and said she would watch the cams for me and when she said Mabel was sat up on the nest and looking better, I could have cried. She is now hooked on the osprey and has computer on all day, Its amazing what the power of prayer can do Pauline fraddon Cornwall

Morning all - Karen rest assured that was Mabel you saw in real time not old footage - she has miraculously recovered from whatever ailed her at the weekend and seems to be doing well although maybe not quite out of the woods - at least she's been for a fly round, had a drink and ate some fish and is feeding the chicks herself again - what a great Lady she is!! And yes that old unhatched egg is still there! At first the young chicks used to lie against it, now its just in the way but hasn't been kicked out of the nest yet. I just flicked over to the osprey cam and Mabel is sitting proudly on the nest looking out over the loch while the chicks preen contentedly in the sunshine!
Denbury lake looks lovely too - just saw the three swans gliding by - lovely reflections in the water there. Looks like its going to be a lovely day here too - hope it is where everyone else is! OK back to work for a while...Jill

Me again lol. Just got latest from SWT, posted 20 or so minutes ago.

"What a day it has been for all involved. Isn’t this bird amazing, she has now fed herself and the chicks 4 times now this evening. This is good news and yes there is a but, but she still is not 100%. Lets hope our male can get some fish into the nest early tomorrow morning so she can feed again soon. Fiona and I will be here through the night to keep an eye on her. We will keep the blog updated as usual, which reminds me to thank the guys at Red Paint for getting the Web blog up and running again. They do a great job for us.

Peter"

Night again. Claire

My heart went in my mouth when she flew off that perch, wondering if she'd make it back up to the nest in her weakened state. Missed her landing back as was away from pc at time. But saw her soon after, then eating was great. I hope she's now out of the woods fingers crossed. I guessed blog was on overload when went down right at that moment.

Night everyone.

Right i understand by reading the forum Claire's, post and the Osprey blog that there has been some improvement in Mabel. I have just flicked over to the Osprey cam to take a look and saw Mabel, sat upright with the chicks i watched her then T-boy came in with a fish next thing i look and Mabel is feeding one chick and he the other. Am i watching old footage? or has she picked up as she looks so lively. I need to take the dogs out i am late, i will drag them lol so i can get back and check the Osprey cam again. I dont know what to think as i have only just looked in since earlier on today. Karen Stoke
