Elsie, I loved the video of the pig, I think he will make a very good addition to their family. Sue, I am so jealous of you going off on your caravan holiday, my family enjoyed many many wonderful caravan holidays when my son was a boy( he is now 39) so it was along time ago but definately never forgotten. I do hope you have a wonderful time. I looked in on the cams earlier and the valley cam looked quite spooky with a veil of mist hanging over it. I am quite sad now that all our bird youngsters have gone, however it will soon be next spring and mother nature will bring them all back for another season, and thanks to Mr Farmer we will be able to watch it all unfold again. I didnt see the squabble with the badgers but it was probably the one Elsie calls Buster. He dashes into the group shouldering them to one side ,stands in the middle on top of the food and wizzes round shoving everybody with his fat bum they all scatter ive watched him several times hes a mixture of skinhead and hoody. I call him the hooooooligan. hes a gready little so and so LOL ELSIE LOVE THE PIG STORY MARY LLANDUDNO

I didn't catch the squabble with the Badger last night the cams were playing up my end one minute they were on then black screen?. Elsie, thank you for the post to go look at the pig, how amusing i have one here i name her Cleo never have i known a dog eat so much and shes black, she is nicknamed piglet, by Jordan, i suppose the time to worry is when she stops eating, since she has lost her sight her sense of smell is second to none.
Its not been a bad two days here looks bright here for how long it will stay like this is anyone's guess. Barbara i wished i had time sit fishing sometimes mind you i couldn't do it to be honest never seen the interest but i do like to see the sight of a fisherman if you know what i mean it looks so British some how lol. Well off to do the rounds on the cams then i had better get cracking loads to do. Karen Stoke

Watched the video Elsie - not sure I'd want to share my house with a pig! Hope he's house trained!! There was no mention whether he's fully grown, if not this type of pig often gets fairly large, I would think he may become a bit of a handfull.

This is something so interesting you must all watch it. Bring up the Northern Echo and read, and watch the video about. You can teach a Hog old tricks. Well worth a watch. Elsie

We've just had a very short rain shower.
But I don't care, as I've just seen a kingfisher on the river I walk along when I go up my mums, haven't seen one there since the very cold weather earlier this year, and on the way home from a shopping trip to Stevenage, what I thought was a quick glimpse of a buzzard, was in fact a Red Kite :)

HI everyone - hope you are all enjoying a nice Bank Holiday Monday - for a change its not raining here so I've been for a walk on the common. I took a tupperware box with me and collected some blackberries and elderberries so will make a nice crumble tonight.
No sheep in the valley today but some lovely shots of the lake in the sunshine and some ducks dabbling away - earlier today there were some fishermen over on the far side of the lake - a lovely peaceful scene - I hope Mr. Farmer's hay is getting dry now!....Jill(E)

Good morning denbury watchers! See the sheep are heading down the valley towards the cam. Looks a lovely day down there, we have sunshine this morning with the strong wind again. It nearly blew you away yesterday, but I dont think it did much damage. Elaine

Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday weekend. We are back in a hot spell this week here in Canada over 30 degrees till next Friday. Trouble is it is too hot to go outside gardening. The female hummingbird has been to the feeder a lot this week. There are lots of flowers in the garden but I guess the sugar water provides more moisture for her. She will be around for a few weeks yet.

Sorry to hear about the badger, hopefully it will heal on its own. We see foxes around here but just have red/grey/black squirrels in the garden and chipmunks and racoons at night with the occasional skunk. We have a beaver in the river near us (10 mins walk).

You have to really close the windows quickly when the skunk is around. The first one to smell if gives out the alert, then we all dash around closing the windows.

We have seen a coyote close by a few times and unfortunately a lot of cats have gone missing so we keep ours as indoor cats. It may seem cruel but the vets over here recommend it in the type of area that we live in. When we open the windows there are always screens to keep out the many bugs.

The fall is supposed to be really good here this year for the tree colors, so I will send more photos then. We are off to Boston for a week in October to take advantage of their colours and to enjoy the coast.

Rosemary, Plymouth i saw the injured badger i am sure it will recover it seemed to be coping OK its so heartbreaking to see a wild animal in pain but it was eating so thats a good sign and seems able to get about so fingers crossed its nothing to serious. The weather has brightened somewhat here nothing to write home about mind i just wished we could have some much needed Sun. I groomed, the dogs today it was warm and blustery, the trees, were talking as i call it. I love that noise the wind catching the leaves i could listen to it for hours but i dont care for high winds that frightens me. Betty Canada thank you for the photos. I must say some good ones have been sent in so far. Karen Stoke

Good evening Everyone. I have just been looking at some badgers having their supper, and one of them seems to have a bad leg. They are wild creatures and impossible for a human to approach to help it. I wonder how it happened; perhaps it might have been fighting and got bitten, might have twisted it in some way. Has anyone else seen it before? Do hope it will get better soon.
Am hoping to walk to the River Yealm estuary tomorrow - wonder if I might catch sight of a migrating Osprey; I believe one has been seen there recently. Rosemary (Plymouth)

Ohhh lovely photos Betty! Beautiful colours - those flamingoes are so bright! Love the pelican too - a bird so common in Canada and the US but rarely seen here unless in zoos, although I do believe there are some in a park in London.
Have a good Bank Holiday everyone ....Jill(E)
