Mr Farmer I was so sorry to hear about your chickens I know that it is all part of a farmers life but you must still find it quite distressing. I am so happy to hear about the stopping of the badger cull and I hope that it wont be considered again. I think the storms you have been getting down south may be moving up here as we have just had a long and torrential downpour but no thunder yet. I am going to visit my sister in law in Aberdeen tomorrow so I wont be able to post for a few days but I will do so as soon as I come home. Val Perth

my daughter now has 5 chickens in her garden and they are growing so fast. they have not yet started to cluck but they are almost fully grown. We have been there for tea tonight and we got the thunderstorm while we were there. Then as we dropped my grandson off my daughter discovered a puncture and had to wait for someone to sort her wheel out for her.so we havent been home long now i will have to see if there is anything left to watch lol. take care Sue.n.notts.

I have just read tonights diary, so sad to read about the chickens. On the way home from work today, someone had run over a badger and just left it in the road, why do people do that? just leave it, it's terrible and really upsets me, they could at least stop and check it has been killed outright and if so move it off the road to the hedging on then side. It makes me so mad. Bec

I have just been on the RSBP website to use the bird identifier that they have on there and I cannot see anythng that look like the pair of ducks I saw today, I really hope to get a picture and send it in to the site so you can see them as they are very pretty and very unusual. Bec

Mary thank you for the update on the owls earlier, i watched them last night around 10ish and one was jumping up at the hole then, but got stuck it looks ok now.

did anyone hear on the news yestaday that the badger cull in Wales has been stopped, but how will that affect England i wonder if Mr Farmer has any news on this.

So pleased to see the much needed shake up on the forum has done good its nice to have it back with so many posts coming in.
I have been watching and reading all the events over the past weeks just been waiting for every thing to settle down again I had not deserted you all

I saw the most unusual pair of ducks today, they are about the same size as a mallard duck and look almost identical as a mallard but a very pale beige/creamy white colour, I tried to get some pictures with my phone but the were a little too far away to get a good snap, I will try again tommorow as I have never seen anything like it before. I wonder if maybe it's a albino mallard (if there is such a thing) Bec

Hello everyone. I`ll be relying on all your posts to keep me up to date for the next few days as I`ll be away. The only thing I`ve noticed today have been the number of rabbits that are living on traffic islands(or roundabouts). They are grassed and have lots of shrubs in the middle (the roundabouts I mean, not the rabbits!) I suppose it`s safe in the middle of a roundabout - for a rabbit. My sister-in-law has a family of woodpeckers who come to her garden and feed on the nuts and seeds on the bird table. I love watching them. Pat. North Wales.

Vicky, i am pleased your Mum got a shot of the Woodpecker, its nice to have photo if they arent a common bird if you know what i mean, my dad gets them in his garden loads of times i have never seen one in my garden but who knows they maybe visit and i dont notice, as the feeders have to be hung on my cherry tree at the back and in the summer the leaves of the Laburnum cover the view. I also have a metal posh one i had made its very tall and tucked up at the very back of the garden out of my view so maybe i do have them ehSo you off to Denbury how wonderful for you that means we will have lots of photos to see if you would be so kind. If you dare give Mr Farmer a big kiss on the cheek of course lol from me for keeping the forum open for us.

Well we have just had the most fantastic thunder storm it started a little after 6 it was right overhead. Cleo is tone deaf now bless her, but it made her bark i honestly couldnt believe it was thunder, one of the bangs it sounded more like a bonb going off never heard it so loud before in my life. I love a good strom though it clears the air hopefully it will remember its supposed to be summer now.

I watched the Osprey take off today, i was lucky it was just getting ready to leave the nest when i looked in, its marvelous how quick they grow isnt it. Well i better get my tea and watch my soaps and the cams lol. Vicky good luck with the kingfisher photo quite a task as they are so quick and a shy bird but they are so beautiful they dont look real to me. Karen Stoke

Have been watching the Osprey web cam most of the evening and only one osprey has been on the nest all night. And Lady doesn't seem to be there either. Wonder if she is with the other chick waiting for dawn to return to the nest? Rosie's Mum in Toronto
