Morning all, well I am still on the laptop!! I thought I was in for a very long boring 3 days, it is my son's annual trip to Santa Pod raceway this weekend with about 30 of his mates, he told me on Thursday night that he was taking it with him. I think by the look on my face that he relented and left me it!!
Mr Farmer loved the diary about the bees and their hive, when i showed it to my hubby he said that he would have done more than squealling about it!! Bet you look a picture in your white bee suit. Can't we bribe Vicky or Mrs Farmer to catch you in it? Will look forward to hopefully seeing the hive in action.
Karen Stoke: I was sad to read that Mabel has left for the year. I keep looking skywards and wishing her a safe journey and a safe return next year. She is such a remarkable bird I am sure that she will return. Thats all for now got to go shopping in town now then going to Sunny Scunthorpe later. Elaine

Up here in North Yorkshire this weekend there are Bee Spotting events for the 7th and 8th August,where they want to know exactly how many bees are seen in people's gardens.There is an interesting web site The British Bee Keepers Association and a Bumble Bee chart to down load on the BBC Radio York web site. Please be careful where Bees are concerned we had a terrible accident 4 years ago with a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel.He was stung by a Bumblebee just after having his yearly injections and died in my arms from Anaphylactic Shock.I hope I spelled it correctly.I have never really got over the horror of that morning.Mr Farmer there will be somebody I am sure around you who would be willing to show you what to do properly.There are some hives here in the village. Occasionally the whole lot take off out of the hive onto a tree and last time on to a window and had to be retrieved!Lindsay.

May I put an order in for a jar of your finest honey Mr Farmer as I love it on my porridge. Bill Turnbull on BBC News keeps bee hives. Have to say the topic of your bee hives has given us some nice humour replys from the forumers. When I saw the state of those hives I thought, how could anyone sell those, they were only good for firewood. Anyway, good luck with your venture Mr Farmer. Elsie

2:25 post thank you for the post regarding the Bees licence. My Daughter has just rang me, i have told her about my plan to get a Hive going she thinks its a very good idea, and said you've been saying it Mum for as long as i can remember how you'd love to keep Bees so do it its a good hobby and something you would enjoy and i think it would suit you down to the ground, so that was nice and has given me more drive to do it, i am so excited i want to be up and running for spring lol. She also told me she had read that if you suffer from hay fever allergies if you buy local honey it will benefit you far better than honey, from farther afield as the Bees collect pollen locally so this makes it better you, learn something every day. sorry if i am Boring every one already with My plans but i have a real BEE IN MY BONNET ha ha sorry couldn't resist that one. I have just looked at the Gallery when i got to the Beehive all me hairs on the back of my neck stood up and i had a tingle allover. I have just said out loud thats it i am getting one i am determined now to have one. So thats my Birthday sorted out this year and Christmas i shall inform my Daughter and family lol but rest assured i am having one somehow. Its just gone buzzing in my head i am so excited i can actually picture me doing it, i have no fear at all of them so it will be wonderful to do as long as i read up on them first and i have this wonderful machine to learn everything i need to know. Well Mr Farmer i have just read the Diary i am elated you have got the Beehive, i am really. I have always been so fascinated by Bees, as a kid i did a composition on them in the junior school and have loved them ever since. For the last two years i have had them nesting under ground in my Lawn at the back under a Laburnum tree they aren't there this year i havent noticed then there they must move around. But in the summer when the laburnum is in flower i actually stand under the tree its like an umbrella and i close my eyes and just listen to the bees buzzing as they go from flower to flower on the tree its one of the most amazing experiences i can tell you its quite wonderful as i dont fear them at all. They have since a little girl been my most favourite of insects. I think they are quite beautiful. Mr Farmer you say you must find time to set the cam up i fully appreciate that but you shouldn't have mentioned it as far as i am concerned. OH it will be a fabulous addition to the Cams you have made my day thank you. Bees are struggling so much lately the government need to get a grip or we will all be in a mess wont we. I have pondered the idea my self in getting a hive one day it might have given me a push to do so sometime soon. When i was doing the hedges earlier this month i was told politely by quite a few Bees to buzz off i must have disturbed there nesting site so i did who am i to intrude on them. Karen Stoke

Gosh those swallows are really crammed into the nest now - surely they should fledge soon! When an adult comes in with a beakful of food its a right scramble to see who gets fed first!
Rosie's Mum I wish you luck with your pigeon! Well done for trying to save it though - many people would say one less pigeon is a good thing but I believe like you that we should at least try and help it.
Both owlets in the box this morning looking sleepy - Im sure it wont be long now before they are fending for themselves and spending less and less time in the barn but I think they like their sleeping quarters too much...somewhere cosy to flake out with they are full up!... Jill

Are those folks using Windows 7 aware there is a Snipping Tool that you can keep on your program tray (usually at the bottom of your screen) and it comes in handy when you want to take a quick shot of the animals and birds. If there is anything you want to get a quick shot of, grab the tool off the tray and then you put the tool on the picture and drag it to the size you want. A small window comes up that tells you what to do. Then you can save the clipping in your pictures folder. Maybe Vicky can explain it better. Rosie's Mum in Toronto

I have tomorrow planned, in catching a pigeon and hope it works. It is on our bedroom balcony (12 floors up) and there is a divider between the next apartment and ours with a gap underneath. I noticed it two days in a row and realized it has hurt a wing and can't fly. I called the Wildlife group and they will look after it if I can catch it. I have put some seed and water out for it but before I can get it it goes under the divider onto the next balcony. The neighbour is a bit crazy and I am afraid that if I ask him to shoo it our way, he likely will send it off the balcony. I have partially cover over the gap and hope that when it comes over for its meal, that I can quickly cover the rest of the gap so that it is now in our half. After that it shouldn't be too hard to catch it. Usually throwing something over their head stops them and then just a matter of lifting it up and putting it into a box. Keep your fingers (and toes) crossed for me so that I be able to catch it. If anyone sees my antics, they will think I have lost my marbles. Unfortunately feed it attracts all the other local pigeons. Rosie's Mum in Toronto

hi ruth. It was my friend Alison who put the clip on youtube. Rinchen was the cameraman in the centre. I swear she did a fly past. :-D. One of the owlets has arrived back and after going inside for a few minutes is now on the tray outside waiting for grub. Ann.

There is a video on u tube of the Lady leaving yesterday, soon after 10am. Shows her landing on the nest calling then taking off with the camera following her.

Hello Everyone. I've just been looking at the little swallows. I was sure that they would have fledged by now, but there they are, so big now that it is a constant struggle to stay in the nest! I think there are still four there. So glad the owlets are OK - it's all so stressful, when one can do nothing to help in any way. Am trying to come to terms with the fact that 'our' Mabel has set off from Loch of the Lowes for that terribly long journey. Let's hope that all our loving thoughts and prayers, which I am sure contributed to her miraculous recovery back in June, will carry her safely all the way back to West Africa. I have read, that is possible she might even fly over Devon and Cornwall, so shall keep my eyes peeled from tomorrow, just in case. Rosemary (Plymouth)
